Notes from the Garden & Beyond

This months note is rustling softly in the undergrowth.
Next mail date: 1st June 2026

Letters from the garden, notes from the Wild Beyond, and a story that keeps wandering off when you’re not looking

Every month, Notes from The Garden & Beyond is posted from my studio in Kent, England - a place where the boundary between the vegetable patch and the improbable is, frankly, unreliable at best.

It's made for anyone who enjoys muddy boots, morning cuppa's in the garden, and has the sense that something secret stirs beneath the leaves.

You'll get a mixture of the following:

  • Seasonal notes from the garden (what’s growing, what’s refusing to grow, and what’s growing despite strict instructions not to)

  • Sightings from the Wild Beyond (the bit of land just past the compost heap where things appear that definitely weren’t in last year’s seed catalogue)

  • A draft chapter from the unfolding story (because the characters insist on doing things and someone has to write it down)

  • An illustrated artefact or piece of evidence (maps, sketches, oddities, and items that may or may not have been found under a suspiciously warm rock)

  • An art print (for your wall, your journal, or to hide under a floorboard for future archaeologists)

  • A recipe or seasonal tip (because even in worlds full of strange creatures, people still need to eat)

Part garden journal, part field report, part story‑in‑progress, all delivered with the calm, slightly exasperated tone of someone who has accepted that reality is not entirely under their control.

Why "Snail Mail"?

Because it arrives slowly, steadily, and with great determination,  much like the snails in my garden, who have eaten more of my lettuce than I have.

Also because it’s meant to be savoured.

A cup‑of‑tea read.

A sit‑by‑the‑window read.

A "what on earth is that creature doing in the rhubarb” read.
